The manga tells the story of a pair known as the GetBackers, consisting of Ginji Amano and Ban Mido. The duo reside in one of the seedier areas of Shinjuku in Tokyo, and are often broke and resort to sleeping in their car. Ban and Ginji operate a freelance repossession service or dakkanya (奪還屋). For a fee, they will recover any lost or stolen item for a client. The two boast an “almost 100% success rate” (100% in the anime). Their motto is: “We get back what is being taken or lost”.
However, Ban and Ginji are not ordinary human beings. They each possess mysterious abilities which they use to carry out their many recovery missions. Ban’s powers include the “Snakebite”, a skill which gives his hands a grip of 200 kilograms-force, and the “Evil Eye” (”Jagan”, 邪眼, a Japanese term roughly meaning “evil eye”), an ability to induce minute-long hallucinations of Ban’s choosing in whomever he makes direct eye contact with. However, this ability cannot be used on the same person twice in a 24-hour period, and he has to rest between uses. The Evil Eye can also only be used three times in one day. Ginji, on the other hand, can generate enormous amounts of electrical energy in his body for tasks such as attacking opponents, or overloading electronic systems; this has earned him the moniker of “Lightning Lord” (é›·å¸Â, “Raitei”, a Japanese term also translated as “Thunder Emperor”, or “Lightning Emperor”).

The story of BPS revolves around a “freelance programmer” named Akira Shirase. He’s a very talented, yet mysterious computer programmer. Because of his incredible abilities, he’s contacted by several individuals (curiously, all of them are very similar persons named Akizuki) to do all sorts of strange computer-related hacking/security jobs. He’s a very quiet guy who lives alone in a small apartment near his niece’s house. At first, the episodes revolved around some freelance jobs that highlighted his abilities - however, later on in the series, characters came back and offered help or plot twists. The school that Shirase had went to had been hinted throughout the series, and it finally made an appearance in the last episode, when some of the characters began to show their hidden relationships to the others. However, the series was canceled.

D. Gray Man (Anime Review)
The story of D.Gray-man takes place on a fictional Earth at the end of the 19th century. The plot slowly (or even dragging the storyline from the anime) centers around Allen Walker, a young British boy who is a member of The Black Order; a secretive organization whose members are known as Exorcists. The Order’s primary mission is to stop The Millennium Earl, an ancient demonic sorcerer who intends to ‘cleanse’ the world by destroying all life on it.
Exorcists are specially chosen humans who are gifted with the ability to control and use Innocence, a divine substance created in ages past to combat the Earl. According to the Order’s history, at the end of The Great Flood, 109 fragments of Innocence were scattered around the world. Once an Innocence fragment is matched to its compatible user, it can become a weapon or tool for the user to wield in the battle against the Earl.
